palo alto review

I didn't love it while watching, but after letting it sit for awhile, I decided that I really, really enjoyed this movie. It's a lot like a Sofia Coppola movie-somewhat plotless, but Gia Coppola does a good job and it comes together. She uses a lot of scenes as vignettes of sorts, and towards the end I could generally see the themes it was attempting to convey. The plot is really not what won me over though, the way this was shot and the elegant soundtrack are awesome, but the acting! Damn. Jack Kilmer and Nat Wolff are great, especially Wolff's cynical, douchey character. Emma Roberts and James Franco were great and equally convincing as well. It's really kept me thinking about it since I left the theater, and for that it earns my respect. It's not a movie for everyone though and on a purely plot basis, it doesn't do much to distinguish itself from other teenage flicks. But still, everything else adds up to a really fantastic debut for Gia Coppola

WOLF ALICE THE BOILER ROOM

i recently was lucky enough to see wolf alice (one of my fave bands) live at the boiler room, i was also lucky enough to meet them and sadly couldn't interview them as i hadn't organised it before but they were super lovely to talk to and i also met james balmont from swim deep , superfood and gengahr. all bands were exceptional live, i especially loved gengahr as i found the bass mesmerising. as you do, i took a disposable to the gig and caught all the moshing in action!

CAMPING!

believe it or not, i find camping weirdly enjoyable. my school was lucky enough to participate in d of e. the walking was very hard (i did not enjoy it lmao) but the camping i loved a lot, its chill when you are all sitting round the little fire attempting to heat the water to cook pasta in, i thought i would share some of my fave snaps <3

Interview with Melissa brooks from the aquadolls!

Hi mellisa, thankuou very much for taking the time to answer a few questions that I have been emailed.
Hello, lovely to talk to you very sad we couldn't do this face to face! Start the questions right away sweetie

Thankyou, the first one is from nancy : I love your style where do you buy most your clothes?
That's so lovely. As you know I live in America so whenever I get the chance I visit San fransico and hit the vintage stores there! I am a massive fan of denim on denim believe it or not? Even though everyone says it's a fashion nightmare, myself I am a fan.

Im secretly a fan of denim on denim too! Second question, from Rachel, where do you get the ideas for you music?
Aha wow, this is a hard one. I'm not to sure I just write what I am feeling. I find that is the best. My song rich boys is actually about an ex boyfriend though.

That's very cool. Next question from emily, relating to the last one, when did you decide you wanted to be a musician?
From a very young age I wanted to do music, I was always in the musicals at school and finally started writing my own music when I was around nine years old.

Next and last question from millie, if you could visit anywhere in the world where  would it be?
Oh gosh! This is a hard one I would say London or Paris because they are both cities and I am a city girl. Everyone there seems very fashionable too haha. I hope to play there soon.

Thankyou very much Melissa! I hope to meet you soon when you come to London lovely speaking to you.
Lovely talking to you too! See you soon

books

i didn't really know what to do my first blog about so i figured it would suck if i did it about nothing i knew about so I'm going to write some stuff about books.

books basically i think are what keeps people alive, there is nothing nicer than going out on a late summer evening down to brick lane and sitting in a little alcove and just getting lost in the paper world we call books.

the last book i read which i finished about 10 minuets ago was virgin suicides, and id seen the movie so many times before but i don't know, i just found the book so more interesting, you really understand whats going on inside the lisbon girls minds, even though its the men telling the story. if you think about it it would be kind of weird, boys, stalking every move you make, staring at you at school. if i was the Lisbon sisters and read through this book i would be freaked and probably get a restraining order.

i think that cecilia was brave but i actually think that the bravest was mary, because even though her first suicide failed, she managed to keep going. i respect them all so much. i also think that the movie is worse than the book so, if you have watched the movie but not read the book, read the book because i guarantee you, you will absaloutly adore it.

i found it beautiful, when the boys called them up and played songs, i listened to all the songs and jeffery eugines obviously has a very good taste in music because the songs were just so lovely
